This season hasn't been kind to the Wood County Christian Wildcat, who are still winless after their fifth game. They lost to Paden City at home by a decisive 41-27 margin on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Wood County Christian of the 56-41 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Paden City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ashton Wade, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Wade hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Kimberly Burch was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Wood County Christian bumped their record down to 0-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Paden City, their victory bumped their record up to 2-9.
Wood County Christian's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Conotton Valley at 6:00 p.m. on January 15th. Conotton Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 692nd in Ohio, while Wood County Christian is ranked 122nd in West Virginia). As for Paden City, they will head out on the road to square off against Clay-Battelle at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
