Hamilton County extended their winning streak to four on Saturday, bumping them up to 7-5. They skirted past the Salem Wildcats 14-12. This was payback for the Foxes, who suffered a 12-10 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Zoe Baylor got the start for Hamilton County and what a start it was: she didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Baylor has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kelsie Ashcraft was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Addison Kelley was another key player, going 4-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Hamilton County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in five consecutive contests.
As for Salem, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10. On the bright side, the 12- run performance marked their highest-scoring game to date.
On Salem's side, Jaelyn Keller led a balanced group of hitters, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Marah Johnson, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Hamilton County has already played their next matchup, a 5-1 loss against Waltonville on the 11th. As for Salem, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-3 defeat against DuQuoin on the 11th.
