The San Marcos Knights had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They snuck past Ramona with a 66-61 win. Given San Marcos' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 189th, while Ramona is ranked 690th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
San Marcos found their leader in underclassman Jalen Williams, who scored 25 points along with four steals. Williams continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Tuason, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
San Marcos has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Ramona, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. San Marcos will take on Mission Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mission Hills has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 482 points over their last seven matches. As for Ramona, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Del Norte at 7:00 p.m. Del Norte is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
