Shadow Mountain had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 7-5 to make it four. They came up short against the Goldwater Bulldogs, falling 18-8. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Matadors of the 17-16 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.
Hannah Sheehan was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Chloe Stumbo, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
As for Goldwater, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 4-10. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last four games.
On Goldwater's side, Micaela De La Torre made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts De La Torre has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Goldwater got a massive performance out of Johanna Hampton, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits Hampton has posted since back in April of 2025. Kayleigh Schauweeker was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
While Shadow Mountain had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
