Heritage extended their winning streak to five on Saturday, bumping their season record up to 22-10 in the process. They blew past the Loudon Redskins 8-2. Considering the Mountaineers have won 17 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Hayden Sanders spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ethan Marcum was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Teagan Ruehling, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Heritage kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
As for Loudon, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-17. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
On Loudon's side, Logan Moore made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. The Redskins are 3-1 when Moore posts two or more runs, but 10-16 otherwise.
Looking ahead, Heritage will look to defend their home field on Monday against Apostolic Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. The Flames have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.75 runs per game on average), something the Mountaineers will no doubt try to take advantage of. Loudon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
