While Mavericks fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Friday's season opener. They never let Collegiate get on the board and left with a 21-0 win on Friday.
Emelia DelCarmen made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. DelCarmen was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lily Pallante, who fired off two home runs, 11 RBI, and four runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Isabelle Morehead was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Miller School of Albemarle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in four consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association faced Kenston Forest in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association put the hurt on Kenston Forest with a sharp 12-1 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Patriots' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Audrey Haywood was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Madison Machotka was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. Reagan Litchford also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Miller School of Albemarle suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Miller School of Albemarle avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
