If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Tonganoxie. They will challenge Ottawa on the road at 7:00 PM on Friday. Tonganoxie don't have the home-field advantage, but they do enjoy an advantage in the MaxPreps rankings.
Tonganoxie might be getting used to good results now that the squad has five wins in a row. They captured a comfortable 20-0 win over Baldwin. No one put up better numbers for Tonganoxie than senior Korbin Riedel, who brought his A game into the match. He rushed for 141 yards and 2 touchdowns. This marked the 5th contest in which Riedel has rushed for over 100 yards.
Meanwhile, we expected Ottawa to have trouble with the significantly higher-ranked Louisburg last Friday, and they did. Ottawa found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 0-25 punch to the gut against Louisburg. Ottawa's defeat continues a disappointing trend for the team, making it seven losses in a row.
Tonganoxie's victory lifted them to 5-2 while Ottawa's loss dropped them down to 0-7. We'll find out if Tonganoxie can add another positive mark to their record or if Ottawa can shake off the loss and take the spring out of Tonganoxie's step.
