Scranton Prep and North Pocono are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Cavaliers will host the Trojans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Scranton Prep has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Scranton Prep easily dispatched Honesdale on Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Cavaliers fell just short of Delaware Valley by a score of 11-9 on Wednesday.
Bella Dennebaum made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. Emelia Williams was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, North Pocono faced Valley View in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Trojans came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cougars, sneaking past 7-6. The Trojans' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
North Pocono got a massive performance out of Avarie Roscioli, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was Roscioli's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Lynch, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
North Pocono kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
North Pocono pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Scranton Prep, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Scranton Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .343. However, it's not like North Pocono struggles in that department as they've averaged .401. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Scranton Prep suffered a grim 13-5 defeat to North Pocono in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Cavaliers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
