Two dominant players in Solomon Marshall and Gunnar Jones are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The St. Andrew's Highlanders will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Alamo Heights Mules at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Taylor scored an imposing 60 points last Friday, St. Andrew's still came out on top. St. Andrew's took down Taylor 76-60. The victory was just what St. Andrew's needed coming off of a 77-45 defeat in their prior match.
Meanwhile, Alamo Heights came tearing into Thursday's contest with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.1 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 46-35 victory over Lanier. 46 seems to be a good number for Alamo Heights as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Alamo Heights found their leader in underclassman William Whittingstall, who scored 14 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Hayes Waddy, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
St. Andrew's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. As for Alamo Heights, their win bumped their record up to 15-3.
St. Andrew's skirted past Alamo Heights 56-54 in their previous meeting back in December of 2017. Does St. Andrew's have another victory up their sleeve, or will Alamo Heights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
