The Onaga Buffaloes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight defeat. They were beaten by Doniphan West 66-34. While losing is never fun, Onaga can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while Doniphan West is ranked 73rd).
Onaga's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emmarsyn Fordham, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bridgett Campbell, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Onaga dropped their record down to 1-14 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Doniphan West, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
Onaga will head out on the road to challenge Clifton-Clyde at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Onaga focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Tuesday. As for Doniphan West, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hanover on Friday. Hanover will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Doniphan West surely won't give up without a fight.
