Midview was the 3-1 winner over Lakewood when they last played one another on September 2, 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Middies lost 3-0 to the Rangers on Saturday. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Middies were not able to get on the board.
The match came down to the wire multiple times:two sets needed extra rallies to declare a winner. Once all was said and done, the final set scores wound up at 26-24, 30-28, 25-15.
Despite the defeat, Midview had strong showings from Delaney Pebworth, who had 25 assists and eight digs, and Kendyl Gregor, who had 17 digs and two assists. The team also got some help from Dezirae Thomas, who had eight digs and an assist.
Lakewood's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ariana Hueter, who had 15 kills, seven digs, and three aces. Another player making a difference was Keira McKenna, who had 22 assists, seven digs, and two aces.
Midview has now lost four of their last five games on the road. That gives them a 4-3 record this season. As for Lakewood, they have been performing well recently, winning 17 of their last 21 games, dating back to last year. That gives them a 5-2 record this season.
Midview has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Elyria on the 10th. As for Lakewood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Valley Forge on the 8th.
