The York Institute Dragons's 24-10 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were outmatched by Cookeville at home and fell 73-45. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points York Institute has scored all season.
Joshua Heard was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points for Cookeville. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Bennett Reeves, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals.
York Institute's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Cookeville, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.
York Institute will be home for the holidays to greet Pope John Paul II at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Pope John Paul II's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Cookeville, they will head out on the road to face off against Oakland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Oakland is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
