The Owen Warhorses's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Rosman, falling 68-32. Owen has not had much luck with Rosman recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Despite the loss, Owen still got an impressive performance from Ellie Martin, who scored 13 points. Martin continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mia Roland, who scored eight points.
Rosman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Marlee Carnathan led the charge by scoring 21 points. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Powell (sykes), who scored 17 points.
Owen has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season. As for Rosman, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Owen won't have much time to rest: their next game is against NCSSM: Morganton at 5:30 p.m. on January 12th. NCSSM: Morganton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 17 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Rosman won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Draughn at 6:30 p.m. on January 12th.
