Basketball Recap: Hillsboro Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

If Bunker Hill wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Hillsboro, they should've done a better job of containing Nathan Matoush. The Hillsboro Hiltoppers walked away with a 58-50 victory over the Bunker Hill Minutemen on Saturday thanks in part to Matoush, who went 6 for 8 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played.

Bunker Hill lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Cole Yates, who posted 17 points. That was a full 34% of Bunker Hill's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Will Manar was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Hillsboro has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Bunker Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hillsboro will welcome Altamont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hillsboro is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.3 points per game this season. As for Bunker Hill, they will face off against Lincolnwood at 5:30 p.m. on January 4th. Bunker Hill is facing Lincolnwood at the right time seeing as Lincolnwood is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
