Vanessa Nawracaj made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kylie Konstand was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Cierra Walker was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Celebration unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 21-6 to Dr. Phillips.
Celebration saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Valeria Castellano, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
Windermere Prep pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Celebration, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.
Celebration's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Windermere Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Celebration, though, as they've been averaging only 2.4 strikeouts. Will Windermere Prep keep running through batters, or will the Storm buck the trend?
Everything went Windermere Prep's way against Celebration when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Windermere Prep made off with a 17-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lakers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
