For the first time this season, Delaware Valley will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They are taking a road trip to take on the Warren Hills Regional Blue Streaks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Delaware Valley has seven straight victories, Warren Hills Regional has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Delaware Valley barely beat Middlesex the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Terriers never let the Bluejays get on the board and left with a 12-0 win on Friday. The Terriers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 12 runs or more this season.
Delaware Valley got a massive performance out of Ava Figalora, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Lindsey Ditmar was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Delaware Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Warren Hills Regional fell victim to The Pingry School and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Big Blue. The game marked the first time this season in which the Blue Streaks were not able to get on the board.
Warren Hills Regional saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sienna Cardell, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Rilee Ghilon also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Delaware Valley pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Warren Hills Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Warren Hills Regional's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Delaware Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .369. It's a different story for Warren Hills Regional, though, as they've only averaged .226. Will they be able to contain Delaware Valley's hitters?
Delaware Valley suffered a grim 10-3 defeat to Warren Hills Regional when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Terriers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
