Baseball Recap: Mountain View Comes Up Short

Mountain View fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Palo Alto on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Spartans, who until this game were averaging 4.04 runs allowed.

Austin Xu made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Zander Yocum was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Mountain View's loss dropped their record down to 15-10. As for Palo Alto, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-13.

While Mountain View had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
