Softball Recap: Chippewa Victorious

While Chippewa's win against Smithville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Chipps had just enough and edged out the Smithies 4-2. The victory continues a trend for the Chipps in their matchups with the Smithies: they've now won seven in a row.

EMMA SCRITCHFIELD spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on TOURA SPEEGLE, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of AVA PANACIULLI, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Chippewa's win bumped their record up to 5-12. As for Smithville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 14 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season.

Chippewa has already played their next game, a 14-0 defeat against Girard on the 14th. As for Smithville, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-4 loss against Crestview on the 14th.
