Given Collinsville's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Althoff Catholic is ranked 143rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Collinsville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zach Chambers, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Chambers has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Nick Horras, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds.
Collinsville's win bumped their record up to 21-2. As for Althoff Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-10.
Collinsville will be playing at home against Highland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Althoff Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against Granite City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Granite City has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 3-0 during that stretch of close contests.
