The Princeton Tigers entered their tilt with the Milan Wildcats with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Princeton walked away with a 47-34 victory over Milan on Tuesday. Given Princeton's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while Milan is ranked 462nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Milan's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jared Gonzalez, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for him. Ahmet Niasse was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Princeton's victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Milan, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Princeton will face off against King City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. King City is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. Milan will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Shelby at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th.
