Los Fresnos fell 73-63 to United South on Friday. The match was a 34-34 toss-up at halftime, but Los Fresnos was outscored by United South in the second.
Los Fresnos' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jj Salazar, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Gio Galvan was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds.
Los Fresnos' loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-6. As for United South, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Los Fresnos will take on Pharr-San Juan-Alamo at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for United South, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Edinburg at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Edinburg will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 550th, while United South is ranked 185th).
