Basketball Recap: Mt. Enterprise Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Tanner Wilburn and Kaegan Ash

Mt. Enterprise lost against Overton back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mt. Enterprise Wildcats came up short against the Overton Mustangs, falling 65-44. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1466th, while the Mustangs are ranked 553rd).

Mt. Enterprise's loss came despite strong showings from Kaegan Ash and Tanner Wilburn. Ash went 8 for 13 en route to 19 points and eight rebounds, while Wilburn went 5 of 8 on his way to 10 points. Ash is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played.

Overton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Bryce Still out in front who went 8 for 15 on his way to 21 points along with eight assists and five steals. Those eight assists gave Still a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylan Holleman, who went 8 of 14 en route to 21 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Mt. Enterprise and nudges their season record down to 5-16. As for Overton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Mt. Enterprise will square off against Carlisle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Overton, they will face off against Douglass at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Overton sitting on five straight victories and Douglass on seven.
