Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Tuscola Mountaineers, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They and Hibriten were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but Tuscola suffered an agonizing 41-40 loss. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
This is the second loss in a row for Tuscola and nudges their season record down to 5-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 11-0 West Henderson (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 77.3% over those games). As for Hibriten, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-5.
Tuscola does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hibriten will head out on the road to face off against West Charlotte at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Charlotte presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hibriten in North Carolina (West Charlotte is ranked 23rd, while Hibriten is ranked 129th).
