The Lowry Buckaroos's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 62-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Churchill County. Lowry was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Churchill County apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Several Buckaroos players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kasyn Garner, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Garner continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Matthew Casalez, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Brady Alves was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with seven rebounds and four steals for Churchill County. Alves hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Baylor Sandberg, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Lowry's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 9-8. As for Churchill County, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lowry will face off against Dayton at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Dayton is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Churchill County, they will head out on the road to square off against Fernley at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Fernley is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games.
