Volleyball Recap: Isabella Garcia's Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Mesa over Valley

After flying high against Highland last Thursday, West Mesa came back down to earth. The Mustangs fell 3-1 to the Valley Vikings on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-16, 25-14, 21-25, 25-22.

West Mesa lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Isabella Garcia, who had 23 assists and six digs. She is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 13 or more in each of the last six games she's played dating back to last season. Kianna Joe was another key player, getting six kills, five digs, four blocks, and two aces.

West Mesa's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Looking ahead, West Mesa will venture away from home to face off against Volcano Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Valley, they will welcome Sandia Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
