After a string of three wins, the Columbia Roughnecks's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. The game between Columbia and Brazosport wasn't particularly close, with Columbia falling 59-45. While losing is never fun, Columbia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1148th, while Brazosport is ranked 399th).
Columbia lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Victoria Davis, who scored 14 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Davis has scored all season. Ayvah Fields was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 15 rebounds.
It was another big night for Londyn Brown, who dropped a triple-double on 17 points, 17 rebounds, and ten blocks for Brazosport. Brown has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Deja El Amin, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Columbia's loss dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Brazosport, they have been performing well recently as they've won 15 of their last 18 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Sweeny the next time they take the court. Brazosport will host Sweeny at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Columbia will host them at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd.
