The Bulloch Academy Gators have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Claxton Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on February 1st. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Bulloch Academy can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Frederica Academy as Bulloch Academy made off with a 57-35 win.
Ashantay Noble was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 12 steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Bulloch Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emme Powell, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Claxton had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Emanuel County Institute with a 49-44 victory on Tuesday.
Claxton found their leader in underclassman Jayda Jordan, who scored 24 points. Zarriana Ortaviyah harden was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Bulloch Academy is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for Claxton, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-16.
Thursday's match is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Bulloch Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23.9 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Claxton, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 rebounds per game. Given Bulloch Academy's sizable advantage in that area, the Tigers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Bulloch Academy strolled past the Tigers in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 61-45. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Jordan, who scored 33 points.
