Baseball Recap: Croatan's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Croatan can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Richlands Wildcats with a sharp 11-1 victory. Considering the Cougars have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Harrison Thomas was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). He has become a key player for Croatan: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-7 otherwise. Thomas was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Weston Thomas was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Jacob Woody also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Croatan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win got Croatan back to even at 7-7. As for Richlands, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Croatan will challenge New Bern at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bears will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Richlands, they will take on Jacksonville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
