St. John is 6-1 against Harding since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The St. John Fighting Herald will be playing at home against the Harding Skippers at 7:00 p.m.
St. John suffered their biggest defeat since December 28, 2023 on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a rough 63-36 loss at the hands of Conneaut. St. John has not had much luck with Conneaut recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the loss, St. John had strong showings from Mickey Zheng, who scored 11 points along with seven steals, and alyssa cevera, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. That was a full 44.4% of St. John's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Harding proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by 21) but on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Chalker 35-33. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Harding has posted yet this season.
Harding's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madison Hunt, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three steals. Jana Vale was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
St. John's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Harding, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-10.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: St. John have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 25.4 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Harding, though, as they've been averaging only 23.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
St. John came up short against Harding in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 57-51. Thankfully for St. John, Kara McFadden (who scored 39 points along with eight rebounds and six steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
