The South Panola Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Caldwell County Tigers at 8:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for South Panola and three for Caldwell County.
South Panola pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-55 bruising from Palmer.
Despite the defeat, South Panola had strong showings from Cameron Griffin, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds, and Demartric Houston, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Keylan Bibbs was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Even though they lost, South Panola were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. This was only their eighth loss (out of ten games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Meanwhile, Caldwell County was the victim of a tough 74-54 loss at the hands of Union County last Thursday.
South Panola's loss was their seventh straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-11. As for Caldwell County, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
