East Chicago Central moved up to 44 from 72 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Freelance. The Cardinals were able to move up by defeating New Prairie 38-37.
Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from seventh to fifth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Braves triumphed over Guerin Catholic 38-17.
East Chicago Central's dynamic duo of Carlos Fernandez and TreQuan Burnett proved tough for the Cougars to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Fernandez threw for 276 yards and 3 touchdowns and Burnett had 163 yards receiving. Deontae Rush helped East Chicago Central's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 50 yards.
Tommy McGowan made the biggest impact on defense this week as Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory topped Guerin Catholic. The 5-foot-9 senior forced 1 fumble and racked up 1 sack.
