Baseball Recap: Bayshore Christian Beats Sweet Water for Their Fourth Straight Win

Bayshore Christian entered their tilt with Sweet Water on Saturday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Bulldogs. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Nate Crooms was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bayshore Christian is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-10 otherwise. Crooms was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Bayshore Christian let Jack Malone and Blake Strickland run wild. Malone scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Strickland scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Strickland is becoming a predictor of Bayshore Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 8-10 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Wheeler, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Bayshore Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Bayshore Christian pushed their record up to 10-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Sweet Water, they now have a losing record of 11-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bayshore Christian will head out to challenge Bayside Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Sweet Water, they will venture away from home to take on University Charter at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
