La Grange (Texas) had its advantage, which at one point stood at 13 points, drop to six before the final whistle blew on a 20-14 victory over
Giddings (Texas).
The Leopards led 7-0 at halftime, but the Buffaloes recaptured the lead on a touchdown with 6:00 remaining in the third. La Grange finally took the lead for the win when
Dillon Davis threw a touchdown to
J.k. Dobbins with 4:00 remaining in the third quarter.
LG saw its 7-point halftime lead fall to six entering the fourth.
The Leopards entered the contest giving up 21.5 points per game this year. A defensively strong La Grange kept Giddings right around the 16.0 points it had been averaging per game.
The loss was the third in a row for GHS. With the win LG extended its winning streak to four games.
La Grange (7-0) goes up against Yoakum in a 3A Region IV District 26 game matchup next week, while Giddings (2-5) locks horns with Smithville also in a 3A Region IV District 26 game.
