The Breathitt County Bobcats will venture away from home to challenge the Wolfe County Wolves at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Breathitt County's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Wolfe County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Breathitt County and Perry County Central, and Perry County Central kept the tradition alive. The Bobcats took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Commodores on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Bobcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

Sebastian Howard was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Aiden Combs made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. He also put up a triple, which was his first of the season.
Meanwhile, Wolfe County had just enough and edged out DeSales 5-4 on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolves.
Like Breathitt County, Wolfe County also got a great game from a two-way player: Kris Evans. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Evans was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Evans wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Landon McWhorter, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Breathitt County's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-3. As for Wolfe County, their record now sits at 7-2.
Breathitt County came out on top in a nail-biter against Wolfe County in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. Do the Bobcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
