The Liberty Charter Lions will head out on the road to face off against the La Jolla Country Day Torreys at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Liberty Charter is coming into the contest hot, having won their last ten games.
On Thursday, Liberty Charter got the win against Ocean View Christian by a conclusive 24-8. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.
Layla Montgomery made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Liberty Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .541. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in seven consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask La Jolla Country Day). They never let El Cajon Valley get on the board and left with a 21-0 victory on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Like Liberty Charter, La Jolla Country Day also got a great game from a two-way player: Ayla Desai. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Desai was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Mia Heppner and Allegra Grezemkovsky did most of the damage at the plate: Heppner got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI, while Grezemkovsky got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Emma Buberl was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Liberty Charter's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for La Jolla Country Day, their record now sits at 8-13.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Liberty Charter has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .468. However, it's not like La Jolla Country Day struggles in that department as they've averaged .469. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
