It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Key West had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Lourdes Academy as they made off with a 12-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Conchs, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Brianna Brenner tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Key West got a massive performance out of Vera Rodger, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Rodger has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Tavyn Gage, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Key West was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lourdes Academy only posted a batting average of .176.
Key West has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Lourdes Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.
