Mid Valley is 9-1 against Riverside since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Spartans will square off against the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. Mid Valley is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Mid Valley proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by ten) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over Holy Cross. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted since May 29, 2024.

Ava Hazelton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Parker Bennett, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Mackenzie Adolfson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Riverside, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Lakeland 8-7. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Chiefs: they've now won four in a row.
Riverside also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Addie Smith gave up four earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits.
At the plate, Kate Reynolds was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Keller, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Mid Valley's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-0-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Riverside, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-5.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mid Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .494. However, it's not like Riverside struggles in that department as they've averaged .446. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mid Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Riverside in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
