Crimson Cliffs is 1-8 against Hurricane since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Crimson Cliffs Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Hurricane Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Crimson Cliffs has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though Crimson Cliffs has not done well against Desert Hills recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Crimson Cliffs came out on top in a nail-biter against Desert Hills and snuck past 49-47.
Crimson Cliffs' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alyssa Whittaker, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Whittaker has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kenadee Richey, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Hurricane lost to Desert Hills on the road by a decisive 57-43 margin on Thursday.
Despite the loss, Hurricane got a solid performance out of Nizhoni Dominguez, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Laynee Walker, who scored ten points.
Crimson Cliffs' victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-15. As for Hurricane, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Crimson Cliffs have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Hurricane struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Crimson Cliffs couldn't quite finish off Hurricane in their previous matchup back in January and fell 55-52. Can Crimson Cliffs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
