Timpanogos is on a three-game streak of home wins, while West Field is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Timberwolves will host the Longhorns at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Timpanogos is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
Timpanogos easily dispatched Mountain View on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Timberwolves fell just short of West Jordan by a score of 5-3 on Monday. The Timberwolves' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Carter Hall was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
Meanwhile, West Field won against Salem Hills on Saturday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Longhorns walked away with a 9-4 victory over Weber.
Kanyon Pratt was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since April 4th. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and five RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brady Penland, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. Samuel Smith was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs.
West Field kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matches.
West Field is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Timpanogos, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-7.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Timpanogos hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .361. However, it's not like West Field struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
