The Pueblo Central Wildcats won the last time they faced the Pueblo East Eagles, and things went their way on Thursday too. Pueblo Central came out on top against Pueblo East by a score of 58-47. Given Pueblo Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while Pueblo East is ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Xavier Davis, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and five blocks. Davis is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ladamien Davis, who scored five points along with six steals.
Despite the loss, Pueblo East still got an impressive performance from Jaden Garcia, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Izaiah Trujillo, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
The win made it two in a row for Pueblo Central and bumps their season record up to 13-7. As for Pueblo East, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-15.
Pueblo Central will head out on the road to challenge Mesa Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mesa Ridge will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something Pueblo Central surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pueblo East, they will head out on the road to take on Pueblo County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Pueblo East is coming into the matchup with five straight losses on the road, meaning Pueblo County will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win.
