Banneker has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Creekside Seminoles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Friday, Banneker was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 43-42 to the Lions. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Banneker in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost nine in a row.
Meanwhile, Creekside's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their 17th straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 95-52 loss at the hands of Jackson. Creekside was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 56-20.
Despite the defeat, Creekside saw an underclassman step up: Daylen Jones scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tim Gaulden, who scored six points.
Banneker has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Creekside, they dropped their record down to 1-21 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Banneker beat the Seminoles 63-53 when the teams last played back in January. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Creekside's Cadence Burch, who scored 24 points along with two steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Banneker still be able to contain Burch? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
