Parker Stubbs was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cylie Long, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Wakulla was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wolfson only posted a batting average of .045.
Meanwhile, Yulee hadn't done well against West Nassau recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Hornets came out on top in a nail-biter against the Warriors, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hornets have posted since April 9th.
Paislie Turner tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Carmen Overstreet, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Jade Fisher also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Yulee now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Wakulla, their victory bumped their record up to 23-4.
Yulee's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Wakulla has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Yulee, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will Wakulla keep running through batters, or will the Hornets buck the trend?
Wakulla beat Yulee 5-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2022. Do the War Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
