Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Ben Davis Giants, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell to the Flashes 67-61. The game was a 32-32 toss-up at halftime, but Ben Davis couldn't quite close it out.
Despite the loss, Ben Davis still got an impressive performance from Zoe Wheeler, who scored 19 points along with four steals. Wheeler hasn't dropped below 15 points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Laila Brown, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Ben Davis smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. This was only their 14th loss (out of 19 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Lily Graves was her usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with five rebounds for Franklin Central. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Graves has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Duvall, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Ben Davis has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season. As for Franklin Central, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-8.
Ben Davis does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Franklin Central won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Pike will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Flashes are ranked 29th).
