The Simmons Blue Devils can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent contest on Monday. They breezed by West Bolivar on the road to the tune of 67-18. With that win, Simmons brought their scoring average up to 50.3 points per game.
Simmons' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Akiah Prince led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Prince has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Esco, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
The victory (which was Simmons' third in a row) raised their record to 15-8. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 40 points. As for West Bolivar, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-20.
Simmons will take on the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Mississippi (Shaw is ranked 217th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 200th). West Bolivar does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
