Baseball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Wolfe County

Wolfe County had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. Everything went their way against the Letcher County Central Cougars as they made off with a 13-4 win. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by nine runs or more this season.

Camden Oliver and Chance Fallen were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Oliver tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Fallen pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Oliver posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. At the plate, Oliver got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Fallen went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Fallen has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, Max Whisman was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Molands, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Wolfe County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .578. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Letcher County Central only posted an OBP of .310.

Wolfe County's victory bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Letcher County Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wolfe County will challenge Jackson County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Letcher County Central, they will square off against Breathitt County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
