The McComb Tigers will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Bay Tigers at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (McComb has ten straight victories, Bay has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
McComb can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent match on Thursday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 38-8 win over Raymond. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-0.
McComb's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jamarcus Pittman led the charge by throwing for 276 yards and a touchdown while picking up 13.8 yards per attempt, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Sanfrisco Magee, who picked up 144 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Bay scored first but ultimately less than Pass Christian in their game on Thursday. They took a 35-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates. While losing is never fun, Bay can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while Pass Christian is ranked 50th).
McComb's win was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 10-0. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32.89 points. As for Bay, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
Everything came up roses for McComb against Bay in their previous matchup back in September of 2020 as the team secured a 47-14 victory. Does McComb have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bay turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
