The Cornerstone Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Altamont Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Cornerstone sitting on three straight victories and Altamont on six.
Even though Cornerstone has not done well against Westminster School at Oak Mountain recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Cornerstone managed a 32-28 victory over Westminster School at Oak Mountain.
Cornerstone can attribute much of their success to Kemberly Roscoe, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. Roscoe is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.
Meanwhile, Altamont earned a 27-18 win over Westminster School at Oak Mountain on January 6th.
Altamont found their leader in underclassman Abbey Sellers, who scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sellers has scored all season.
Cornerstone now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Altamont, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Cornerstone have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 29.8 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Altamont, though, as they've been averaging only 14.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Cornerstone against Altamont when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 60-22 victory. With Cornerstone ahead 43-11 at the half, the game was all but over already.
