Fans got a thrill when Tony Brown and Emilio Villafranco connected against Johnson City. The connection went for 77 yards, the longest such play in 2A-2 Region IV District 14 this season.
Schulenburg moved up to 341 from 420 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Shorthorns climbed the ranks as a result of besting Randolph 63-14.
Jarrell's dynamic duo of Brown and Villafranco proved tough for the Eagles to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Brown threw for 203 yards and 3 touchdowns and Villafranco had 107 yards receiving. Dacious Barr helped Jarrell's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 48 yards.
He was 10-14 with 1 interception.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Schulenburg's Ross Bludau and Jeffrey Lara have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-4 quarterback Bludau has thrown for 1,081 yards this season, while Lara has 25 catches for 536 yards. The Cougars' De Sean Johnson leads the league in rushing yards with 667.
The Ro-Hawks are in fifth place, while Jarrell is in second place.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Blanco takes on Tommy Bludau's team. The Panthers have allowed 117 points this season, while the Shorthorns have given up 76. Blanco allowed 40 points last week as it fell to Rogers.
The Eagles extended the longest winning streak in 2A-2 Region IV District 14 this week by beating Danny Rogers' team, 40-20. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
