Irvington hasn't had much luck against Mt. Eden recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Irvington Vikings will challenge the Mt. Eden Monarchs at 4:00 p.m. One thing working in Irvington's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.
Last Tuesday, Irvington got the win against Deer Valley by a conclusive 17-6. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by eight runs or more this season.

Ixayana Vera made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Maya Briones was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Five bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Diya Vacin, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Irvington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .833. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .609 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Mt. Eden fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Kennedy on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Titans by a score of 8-7.
Annelise Burgos spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits. She also tossed two walks, marking her first of the season.
At the plate, Jasmine Cruz and Kealani Temoche stepped up to the plate in a big way. Cruz scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-6, while Temoche went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was Temoche's first of the season. Amaris Ruiz was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Irvington's record now sits at 3-1. As for Mt. Eden, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Irvington hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .550. However, it's not like Mt. Eden struggles in that department as they've averaged .369. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Irvington suffered a grim 15-3 defeat to Mt. Eden when the teams last played back in March of 2022. Can Irvington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
