Carla Arreola made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.
In other batting news, Round Valley got a massive performance out of Kelci Walker, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Walker has posted since back in March. Taizly Newman was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Round Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Page made easy work of Tuba City on Wednesday and carried off an 11-5 victory.
Like Round Valley, Page also got a great game from a two-way player: Leah Bigthumb. On the mound, she tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Bigthumb was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Makenna Nez was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Shanelle Tallsalt, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Page has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Round Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 13-6.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Round Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .408. However, it's not like Page struggles in that department as they've averaged .415. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
